The district administration and the Forest Department will jointly conduct a bird festival as part of Mysuru Winter Festival-2018 (Mysuru Maaghi Utsava) on December 28 and 29.
Participants will be taken on a birdwatching exercise around Kukkarahalli lake, Varakodu lake, Lingambudhi lake, Hebbal lake and other wetlands. Deputy Commissioner Abhiram Sankar, who is an avid bird-watcher, has evinced special interest in the programme, whose objective is to create greater public awareness of the rich biodiversity of the region.
While the birdwatching will be at the stipulated lakes, the technical sessions to provide additional details will be held at Mysuru zoo. The bird festival will be inaugurated at the zoo at 11 a.m. on December 28. There will be a technical session from 12 noon to 1.30 p.m. Deputy Commissioner will speak on birdwatching as a hobby from 2.30 p.m. to 3 p.m. From 3.30 p.m. to 6 p.m., the participants, divided into 20 teams, will be taken for birdwatching.
On December 29, there will be a birdwatching session from 6.30 a.m. to 9.30 a.m. It will be followed by technical sessions from 10.30 a.m. to 1.15 p.m. There is a registration fee of Rs 200, which has to be remitted online through http://mdc.psmedia.in.
